Letters to Loved Ones
Letters to Loved Ones is an app I initially built so I could connect deeper with my dad. It is to help parents and their adult children build deeper relationships through deliberately slow, thoughtful digital letter writing.
It is not a chat app.
It is a digital version of the experience of writing letters to someone you love: you write at length, the other person receives the letter, they have time to sit with it, reflect, and eventually respond.
Letters to Loved Ones starts with a quiz to understand what the parent and adult child is seeking from the interaction. It then invites the relationship into a letter writing process where it can be open-ended or guided by a prompt suitable for what the parent or adult child is seeking from the relationship. One letter is written a week. There are four days to write the letter and a three day cooling period before the letter is sent. During this time, the letter writer can go back in and change the letter before it is sent off. The recipient can read the letter immediately but the reply cannot be sent until a week later.
The app is currently being tested by a small group of users, if you are interested in being part of the beta testing group, please let me know.
